"I am planning my timeline for the clarinetfest and notice that after a
flight to Denver and back to Okalhoma I will have a 35 mile drive to the
hotels in the area. I have spent my 53 years within a mile of Manhattan,"

.... the only way that you can drive 35 miles from the Airport in OKC OK to
Norman, OK or to any Oklahoma City Motel or Hotel is to get lost a couple of
times.

FYI: Will Rogers World AIRPORT (the Okc Airport) is on the FAR SOUTH SIDE OF
OKLAHOMA CITY --- very, very close to I-44 and just a few miles from I-40
and I-35.

"New York and have never driven in what I am told is a totally deserted type
of terrain, mile after mile after ...... Is this a horrible drive? Is it
dangerous?"

I would suggest you do some study of Oklahoma City. We are NOT terribly
small in population size.
<We do have a couple of trees though.> Oklahoma County (where OKC is
loacted) is about 650-675,000 people. Cleveland County (where Norman is
located) is well over 200,000 the last I looked. Watch out for the those
roamin' Buffali and them Wild Injuns. Please don't go into Teepees unless
you are invited !

Who is your source of information ? Do THEY play Clarinet ? <grin>
