Actually...you'd be surprised...

This past St.Valentine's Day was the first and so far the only time I've
misused alcohol (as I did not begin consumption until I turned 21). I
consumed about a third of a fifth of rum and an equal amount of Absolut
afterwards, over the course of about three hours. The only time I've
EVER been drunk. Here's the ironic part.

The very next day, I had a detailed formal analysis of the first movement
of Beethoven's Fifth due, which I hadn't started until I was well into the
vodka. This was one of three analyses for this class, and the only one I
received an A on, despite my being slobbering drunk while doing it.

The other two I received B-'s on, each a month after the preceeding. The
second was a thematic analysis of the second act of Wagner's Tristan und
Isolde (there were only like, 70 separate recurring themes which appeared
only like, 500 million times) and the third, a serial analysis of Webern's
Variationen (which I'd have probably gotten an A on had I could identify
the last two rows...rassumfrassum overlapping).

Does this mean alcohol impairment improves my grades? Probably not - I
enjoy Beethoven more than Wagner, and Webern is too mathmatical for my
tiny brain...cell. I probably won't ever use alcohol in such a manner
again...

...because although I got an A, the next day was Tuesday, meaning an hour
and a half of Winds II, two hours of Winds I, and a forty minute saxophone
lesson, most of which was endured through my worst (well, it was my first
and only, so of course it was my worst) hangover...

"Hey Shour!"
"WHY IS EVERYONE SCREAMING AT MEEEEE!!!????"
"I'm not screaming..."
"WELL THEN WHIPSER, PLEEEEEEZE?"

Not to mention how amplified the discrepancy between A440 and A443
becomes...
