Subj: [kl] Ligature and Glissando

Hello. Recently, my friend bought a new ligature. It is the nylon strip with
the screw in the back kind. He told me it made his clarinet sound better, so
I tried it on mine. I could hear a small. difference in tone quality with his
ligature. Does ligature really make your tone better or was I just "hearing
things"?
My other question is how do you make a glissando in the lower register?
