In contrast with my last post about this, (seeing dark as a technical term
rather than an emotional term) I really agree with Audrey. I think people
should really open their minds to this concept instead of turning it down
without looking at it. This is what I do- I learn the piece carefully,
technically, learn the dynamics and everything. Then I explore what the
composer is really trying to say, what it means to me and how to portray it.
It's a great method, I think. I always feel a very deep connection with the
piece and the composer, and my audience likes it too.
