The mazzeo clarinet came in models from basic student up to the finest
quality instrument Selmer Paris made. The 10G bore was the last entry-check
out Sherman Friedland's site on the clarinet pages. He was a pupil of Rosie
Mazzeo as well as George Cochran (I think that is the name). As the
Milwaukee symphony was just startng to go full time both Sherman and George
(also a pupil of Rosie Mazzeo in Boston) came to Milwaukee and played first
and second clarinet. The main thing about Mazzeo and his clarinet was the
unique way of producing throat Bb with the clutch off thrat A and just about
anything u touched gave you a mighty true Bb opening the third side key on
the trill key side of the instrument. True Bb--if you email I can share what
I know I also have several copies of his method that he wrote for the
clarinet with his system. This was a serious attempt at an improvement and
Selmer Paris went all out. It did not take. The name escapes me but the
principal clarinet in the Minneapolis orchestra at the time late 50' early to
mid 60' (williams) played a set all of his career there. He came from Radio
City Music Hall. Please excuse the grammar and spelling I have been told I
play better than I type.

Dr. Ronald Monsen Prof of clarinet University of Kentucky School of Music

Ps. IMHO Rosie Mazzeo was a true genius a master teacher and coach a one of
the most interesting human beings I ever had the pleasure to meet.
