I play a LeBlanc EEb contra with low Eb in a community band. Many times I
wished this contraption went to low C as I play a lot of bari, tuba and
string bass parts. I play an octave lower than written on these parts when
ever possible as I feel the low register is the contras' forte. If I tune a
couple pennies flat (not enough to readily noticable) I can lip that low Eb
down to an almost decent D. Hopefully, one day I'll find me a paper clip
model so I can really get down and dirty. Love dem low notes. It adds depth
to any band.
