I have experienced several similar problems while I have been learning
(since last September) and have tried such remedies to no avail. The big
improvement occurred when I purchased a decent mouthpiece. The one with my
student Bundy was terrible. After buying the replacement all the fingering
became easier. Don't ask me why. I guess that maybe when less effort is
needed to produce the air required for the sound, then the brain has more
capacity to deal with other problems. Perhaps there is more oxygen available
for the brain. :)
Any way, I still have difficulties with some new fingerings when I first try
them, but they (the problems) disappear with time and practice.
