Subj: [kl] Thumb rest
Date: Thu, 4 May 2000 07:30:36 -0400

Several times now, I have bought something against the advice of
people here. And each time I've discovered that the experienced players
were correct and I wasted my money.

So ..... Is there any reason that I should not ask the local music
store to put an adjustable thumb rest on my plastic student Yamaha?
I ask because, unless I position my thumb in a really awkward way,
I'm having a difficult time with the long fingering for
B-natural-on-the-staff (uncovers other right hand holes). I _can_ do it
reliably if I put my thumb in a really awkward position on the thumb
rest, and I'm thinking that if I could just slide the thumb rest a
little bit this way.....

Or am I going to be sorry (again) ??

Thanks,
Bill
