Empirical observation -
In the "canned" clip art I use (popular and widely available) many of the
clarinet images are distinctly conical...especially the caricatured or
stylized ones.
I do, however, realize that they more obviously resemble a cylinder. I
wonder what a truly cylindrical clarinet would sound like? but then would
it really be a clarinet?
Stirring up the waters a bit.
