Ah, this delightfully beautiful wonderous piece of music. Curiously,
some of the CD enclosures translate the title too literally as "Pavanne for
a dead infant" which is not what Ravel had in mind when he wrote Pavanne for
a sleeping princess. In taking from the spanish to french, he refers more
colloquially to "enfante" in the sense of being a potential ascender to the
throne but whose status is "defunte" at that time.
