If you want a really dark sound, you need a wood clarinet with extra black
stain. For a bright, silvery, shimmery sound, the metal clarinet is just
the thing. For the most flexible sound, try plastic.

(Sound of toungue being unstuck from inside of cheek)

Actually, the best way to get a "dark" sound is to practice with the lights
off. :-)
