Subj: [kl] Ravel's Piece en forme de Habanera -Reply

I believe Ravel originally wrote Piece en forme de Habanera as a vocalise and it
has been transcribed for most instruments . I have heard live performances on
flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, cello and harp, but I have never heard a
performance of the original vocal version. My Leduc edition begins in the
throat register a bar 41, but down an octave would sound nice. Another nice
Ravel piece you might try is the Pavane pour une Infante Defunte. It was
originally a piano solo, but I have an old Cundy-Bettony edition for Alto Sax
that I transcribed for clarinet. I'm sure there must be several editions out
there. It is another light piece that can be used for incidental, backround,
church music etc.
