Not exactly. While a metal clarinet may not be superior to another, there were a few metal clarinets that were the equal of clarinets made of other materials.

As to the "nice light sound a metal flute gives", some would argue that wood flutes have the "nice light sound". Both would be right - it's in the ear of the beholder, nowhere else.
