It's very kind of you Walter, and of course I'd love to meet you anyway,
with or without your clarinet.

Can I say something?

I sometimes feel caught here trying to represent both suggestions
that may be useful, and *also* trying to represent that it's unwise to
think that you *necessarily* need the wisdom of others in order to
progress.

Because lots of things you can find out for yourself, and others may
confuse you. You do better trusting your own judgement.

On the other hand, part of your judgement may include what others say.

So it's not a paradox that it's not surprising that Michelle Zukovsky
didn't take lessons from some experienced player of the Oehler clarinet;
and that also, it wouldn't be surprising *either* if she *had*.

The point is, it was up to her.

I know David Blumberg didn't actually say that either of these things
were surprising, so I probably came across rather strong to him.

I do think it's an important point, though. It can be particularly
important to students, who can get it wrong both ways.
