My understanding of the Stowell Wells Schneider mouthpiece adventure cam from
my teacher Jerry Stowell Chicago Symphony. Part of the trio SWS. The
mouthpieces were produced by Frank Wells of Chicago. Avery competent and
resourceful technician. Stowell put up the the operating funds and I am not
sure what role Schneider played. I do know at some point in the late 5j0's
or early sixties there was a bit of a falling out. I had several of these
mouthpieces. Mine had a rounded bottom to the windway. Somewhat like a
saxophone. Frank Wells went on for many years. He had a workshop in the
basement of a hotel just outside the loop Grand or //

When the hotel was torn down he moved his workshop out to the Saxophone
Shop-first in Evanston and now in ???

I still play on my Wells adjusted Eb soprano mouthpiece on a 6o,ooo series
Buffet Eb. Was one of the horns Jerry Stowell also played.

Anyone have more information? Would love to hear it. This is not guaranteed
to be 100% factual. Many years and countless notes have gone by since. The
basics are correct, however.
