Is there a single reference, either online or purchasable, that one can
lookup an LP number and get back when it was originally produced? For
instance, I have a Columbia Masterworks ML 4683 (Ormandy, Philly Orchestra,
Prokofiev No. 7). No cover, just the record. On the record it says x "lp"
l3847. The other side is the Lt. Kije Suite (Kurtz, Royal Phil Orch), and it
says x "lp" 8677. I'm figuring that the x means "from" - but I can't find
any of the numbers in my library searches. Not in the latest Koch-Schwann
catalog (at least I couldn't find them).
I have a lot of albums in this condition ...
