Sorry about that. The MP3 suit was about MP3 buying 80,000 CDs, putting them
on their site - pre-ripped and MP3 converted - without any licenses, and
only allowing people to download the music if they actually bought a legal
copy of the CD (either they uploaded a code from their own CD or purchased
it online).

Of course, people are honest, and they wouldn't borrow their friend's CD to
unlock the download of an MP3 file.

Uh huh. Not that Michael Robertson would try stretching the law and seeing
what he could get away with.

The MP3 artists are a completely different thing - they explicitly allow the
download of some of their music as a "hook". Since they individually make
the determination of what goes out and they've agreed to the terms, there's
no problem.
