I recall many performances of this surprisingly worthy work. I suggest
playing the passage for memory at differing tempi. The train wreck occurs
when we must repeat a,f#,b,f# a few times and we put the notes in the wrong
order. Just practise that combination of notes till tears stream down your
face.
I will be thinking of you as your life passes before your eyes during the
string leadup. The passage is playable.

For several years I was continually hired to play the part at balls
because a certain conductor with a delicious, malicious nature had not
heard me fail attempting it. When I got notice of the job I inserted
playing the passage for memory into my practise routine. It was a
challenge that I survived, but unfortunately the balls and the conductor
have retired.

In Canada blood is donated by folks whose reward is a bowl of soup and a
cookie. Now, the screening process involves many intrusive questions about
ones' sexual habits. One question I was asked at my most recent donation
was whether I had had sex with anyone who had recently delivered sex in
payment for drugs or money. After thinking about this for a while, I
decided the proper thing would be for me to ask my sexual partner, my wife
of seventeen years, how she was doing in the sex for money and drugs part
of her life. Her Reply...
"The local pharmacy [chemist] doesn't accept sex as payment for
Ibuprofen."
