Transpose it.

If this is the lick I'm thinking of (I don't have and have not played the
full part), I've been doing it for years as a first finger study. I play the
lick as written, then transpose it up a half step, then another half step,
and so on until the first note of the passage is C (middle space). Then I go
down from where it's written in half steps until the first note is G (second
line). (Expect to see this in one of Opperman's next books to come out).

The only hope of doing this passage with any kind of velocity is if your left
hand and first finger are where they should be. If they are not, and you
play with wrist motion, then there is no quick fix, unfortunately.
