I was under the impression that he just wanted a copy of the CD to listen.
My suggestion to make
a tape is the same as if you or I taped a CD for use in our car.

But that is illegal. Done often, but still illegal. I was at a circuit
judges home for dinner (I taught his daughter) several years back, and he
was talking about how he and his Judge buddies swaped tapes they recorded
for each other from CD's. I wasn't about to lecture him - but oh the
thoughts....
