Has anyone been creating a chart or list of top players, the
orchestras they play in and what mouthpiece-reed-ligature
combo they use, or even more, the measurements of their
mouthpieces. I've been watching all the info on this
subject for many months now but not needing a mtpc I never
wrote anything down. Now I have a friend (a good player by
the way) who is convinced it is time to get a better
mouthpiece and is willing to pay the price of a good one.
If anyone has all this info in one place and could e-mail it
to me I would appreciate it.

Also: I've been reworking my own mtpc over the years and
have finally done something wrong that I don't understand.
I will no longer allow me to get above high G. High A is
difficult but no matter the reed, it will not play anything
higher. I use a Hammerschmidt med-open (don't know how
they designate this), and have changed the degree of
curvature and its length, and have scraped a little of the
inside walls of the rails near the tip. It gets a smooth
free and open sound without using hard reeds. Last year I
switched to V12 reeds 3 1/2 and I find them to be close to
what I used to make when I was playing full time.

Any suggestions about what I did to mess up the high notes
or what to do to fix it?
