Yes, Walter, this is a very worthwhile observation. I find that after balancing
a reed it plays lighter and more full than when first tried out. It stands to
reason that a balanced reed has full vibrational potential over a reed "just out
of the box" wherein one side of the reed is "working" and the other side is
sluggish. Good post.
