David Glazer was born in 1913. He was one of seven brothers
each of whom played (including Frank Glazer - pianist)
and studied at Winsconsin-Milwaukee University
He was a clarinet student of the Austrian player
Victor Polatschek (Viktor Pollatschek (sp?) 1889-1948)
of the Boston Symphony. After 4 years of war service
he played in the Cleveland Orchestra 1946-1951 under Szell.
He moved to New York to further his interest in playing
chamber music and joined the New York Wind Quintet in 1951
He played with Casals at Prades in 1953. He was more
prolific than any other (American) clarinettist in the 1960s and 70s
in his production of classical LPs mostly for Vox and Concert-Disc
(Everest)
