Difficult question since i.e. a Vandoren 21/2 is not uniform. I had to order
several Legeres and wound up 1/2 strength harder than what I buy in cane
(boxwise with about 6 out of ten reeds I can use). The Legeres tend to
soften a bit after 10 to 15 minutes of use, so judge the correct hardness
only after some playing. May be one should have always several Legeres at
hand. They also come in 1/4 strength. For a 21/2 order a 21/2, 23/4 and 3.
