Interesting and enlightening. Since I don't play in Dixieland bands myself
perhaps you could explain why the Albert or Oehler types work better for
you. Isn't it possible to find some large bore Boehms that would give you
the results you desire? Key system is independent of bore design. There
have been large bore Boehms and small bore Alberts, although the latter were
relatively rare as they were made for countries that wanted the "French"
sound of the small bore. These were the same countries where the Boehm key
system was already rapidly pushing out the Albert key system. This is based
on information in Rendall's "The Clarinet."
