Only a thousand? That makes it entirely too easy to join the ranks of the
snooty, given that top-of-the-line Brannens & Powells run between $12 - $15k.

P.S. Every time my feathers get ruffled about how much good clarinets
cost, I just think of professional flute players ($12-15k), pro-
fessional bassoonists ($35-45k), and (of course) solo violinists
($1 - 5 million; heck $15k just for the bow!).
