What really got me was the granting of _copyright_ to the list! Your name and email address (along with other demographic information) is requested for service; if you don't think they're going to use it to make money, then "What were you thinking??". However, copyright is a really serious thing - you (and other members) can collaborate and come up with a really good set of "something", and the "free" email list provider can publish it for a fee (along with deleting the archive!). Perfectly legal.
