Years ago, my teacher in college said that when using a reed trimmer, you
must make sure that the cutter goes through the stationary part. My Cordier
did not do that, so he took it apart and pushed it through a number of times
until the moving part went through. It gets a smoother cut because it
actually cuts the reed instead of squeezing the tip off. I have seen a lot
of reed trimmers that don't push through. You have to force it at first
until it goes through, but it does trim better. That is my 2 cents.
