Hello clarinet players,

On April 11, Erin Pay asked for information about Ida Gotkovsky,
especially her Concerto Lyrique. I was looking for information on her
too, and had the same experience that she is somewhat hard to find
on the net. However, I found two sources that you might have missed,
Erin, so I will provide them at the bottom of this mail.
As an extra question to the list, I would like to ask if someone could
tell me more about another piece of her 'Images de Norvege' which I
have planned to play on a concert on May 6.
Thanks in advance,

Harald Tepper

The first site that I found, which seems to have an extensive coverage
of Gotkovsky and her works is at:
http://www.inka-unna.de/komp/859.html
However, when trying to access this I constantly get 'Network
unreachable'. Hope this is some temporary problem.

Ths second site I forgot to write down, but I saved the text in a file:

"Ida Gotkovsky has the French nationality and was born and bred
in a family of musicians. At the Paris National Superior Conservatory
of Music she has been awarded numerous First Prizes.Ida Gotkovsky is
famous for a great number of compositions, among which one can find
chamber and symphonic music as well as instrumental, vocal and even
lyrical works. The personal characteristics and original form of her
compositions made her win a lot of important composition prizes,
such as: the LILY BOULANGER PRIZE - the BLUMENTHAL PRIZE - the FIRST
PRIZE of the PASDELOUP REFERENDUM - the INTERNATIONAL PRIZE OF DIVONNES
LES BAINS - the MEDAL OF THE TOWN OF PARIS - the GRAND MUSICAL PRIZE OF
THE TOWN OF PARIS - THREE PRIZES AWARDED BY THE 'INSTITUT DE FRANCE' -
THE GOLDEN ROSE AWARD (USA) etc...Her fame soon spread beyond the French

borders and Ida Gotkovsky is now very much in demand as a member or as
chairman of numerous international adjudicators panels. Her works are
performed as well in Europe as in the United States of America, the
Commonwealth
of Independant States, Japan, Asia and Australia. She is currently
professor
of composition in Texas.ALL HER COMPOSITIONS ARE WRITTEN AT THE REQUEST
OF
THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT OR FOREIGN ORGANIZATIONS."
