An educational institution that i haven't seen mentioned in this
discussion is the Community College, which 30 years ago were called
Junior College.

These serve two main purposes; one option for the first two years of 4
year college, taken in local setting, much less expensive fee for class
hours even than state supported schools.

The Community college also supports or associates with certification
programs of less than 4 year full time requirements. The CC in central
Florida where i am working this year has Nursing, and Public Safety
(Police and Fire) programs.

The 'typical' student is working 25-40 hours a week, taking a full
schedule of classes and married with children. About 1/4 to 1/3 of the
students have just finished high school, and most of those also work
25-40 hours a week.
