Deborah - if you are a member of the American Federation of Musicians,
you can log onto their web pages and find contract information about
various orchestras. You should be able to find information about doubling
in orchestras your size and present that as a part of your request, along
with the rationale for extra pay - more instruments, more practice/prep
time, etc.

Also, in regard to principal pay for bass clarinet, in Richmond English
Horn and Eb Clarinet are principal positions, and bass clarinet and
piccolo and contrabassoon are not. Long story about why that is, but the
short version is that it usually depends how much trouble they have
finding a player on those instruments, and how much they'll pay to have a
dependable player fill the chair.
