The method described by Lori is what worked for me, with a added twist.
Also practice bending pitch with just the mouthpiece and barrell. It is
easier to bend the pitch of the shorter tube. The extended control may
carry over to the whole clarinet.

Some LUCKY individuals can stretch the pitch from fingered note
by as much as a 5th.

I have not gotten more than a flat halfstep below fingered note, and was
able to a creditable job on beginning of Rhapsody in Blue.
