I have played one of the books for west side story as well, and the
instruments I used were Bb clarinet, Eb clarinet, and just a smidgeon of
Alto sax. This must be one of the other Reed books someone referred to.
But I do remember five reed players. We used a rather large pit orchestra,
relatively speaking. I recall 4-6 violins and 2 celli. It has been almost
20 years ago.
