Mark, you are 100% correct when you say that I have no hard evidence to
offer. I have seen studies that have shown that music students have higher
average scores on SATs and other tests than do non-music students, but I do
not have access to them at this time, and therefore cannot offer them as
valid evidence. Perhaps someone else on the list knows of such reports.
But regardless of a lack of such evidence, I still believe that music
students tend to be more academically talented than other students, based on
what I have seen and experienced in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area.
This may or may not relate to conditions in the rest of the world. If you
choose not to believe me, that is certainly your choice.
