Please read "chr's" post carefully. Unless I totally misunderstood what she says, the _private_ student prepays for a term, e.g. 13 weeks, but if the lessons fall on a public
holiday there is no lesson, and no refund of fee. If the following week the teacher is sick, a second lesson is lost without refund of fee. The German taxpayer pays for 13 months
of lessons per year. The whole system is designed to protect the teacher from exploitation by unscrupulous students and parents, but does _not protect the student_ from similar
exploitation. Nice work if you can get it, but is it equitable?
I realise that the system was not set up by "chr", that she merely benefits from status quo in Germany; my comments are not a reflection on her.
