In an earlier post, I neglected to say that I do not consider my after
school, before school, and lunchtime sessions as lessons. I require my
students to come in for help sessions on their solo and ensemble music ald
all-region band audition music. Students sign up for times. They are not
charged for these just like they are not charged for the section rehearsals
they attend once weekly after solo and ensemble contest is over. I guess you
could say I give private lessons for free in that regard, but in our band
program, help sessions are not private lessons. We do have trouble getting
teachers and some of my students take lessons, but most don't, so I have to
do helps sessions to get one-on-one time with my students.
