My apologies on this one. I phrased this poorly and it doesn't really say
what I meant. A more accurate statement of my opinion would be that it is
not possible to spend the amount of time on these elements that is really
needed. Available time and the expectations of parents, administrators and
students place limits on the depth that can be achieved.

Here I most certainly agree. It applies across the board not just in music.
We as a society don't realize the enormous capacity to learn that all
children have. Every child, whether a genius or one of the special
children, has an in-born drive to learn. We challenge them too little and
what is presented is often put forth in a boring and uninteresting manner.
