As a general guide, the following: (this is one of my handouts)

ORDER OF PRIORITIES,
or, first things first

for MUSICIANS
flexible motion (aka relaxation)
rhythm and meter
tempo
intonation
phrasing

for CLARINETISTS (and all wind instruments)
flexible motion (aka relaxation)
airflow
embouchure (mouth, face and thoat)
articulation (slur, tongue, and combinations)
technique (notes)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also i assign 'custom' lists :
If you practice 5 minutes ...
2' on register slurs focusing on.......
2' on (specific measures)in (specific) routine
1' on this section in tempo.
(or just measures 34, 35, 68-69)
if 10 minutes add
whole piece straight thru, marking where to review next time
scale

Alway have a list of 3 or 4 things to do on auditions or performances
just before playing, written on the top of the music or a post-it
covering the first measures of the piece.
