School was less of a priority for me. I had great teachers, they would
allow me take home the material, study & test out of the class. I would
get at least 3-4 hours of practice in school. That's including the band
class. We did not have marching band, we had concert band & orchestra, also
AP theory. I guess that's kind of unusual case. I would also get home at
4:30, Our school was an experimental school. We attended from 8:00 to
4:00, we had what was call independent study modules between classes, which
was 40 minutes to 1 hour duration. The independent study modules would be
through out the day and would have at least 2 hours of independent study.
I know it's hard, I never expect my students to practice that amount of
time. My upper student I expect to practice at least 12 hours per week,
which is 2 hrs a day for 5 days & 1 hours a day for 2 days. My regular
students I expect them to practice at least 1 hour a day.
