I have a couple of good excuses.
1. My aunt or sister or friend is coming over and I can't take a lesson this
week.
2. I forgot, or my parent forgot.
3. I left my instrument in the band room locker.
4. My friend has my mouthpiece.
5. It's raining.
6. Oh! I didn't practice
During Marching season, it is imposible to have any consistancy in
lessons. These are the excuses or reasons.
1. I have marching practice, a sectional( What about another day)
2. I have to sell candy, boosters, calendars, christmas trees, wreaths, ads,
cards, pens.
I find that there is a lack of comittment in this generation. When I
ask them how much they practiced this week, they usually say about 20
minutes a day for about 3-4 days, which I can tell. Then I tell them, well
I used to practice at least 5-6 hours a day 7 days a week, they look at me
in horror or shock. If I told that to my teacher, or had a horrible
lesson because I did'nt practice I would have been chewed on & spit out.
Also he would call my parents and threaten that this can't continue. In
nowdays, if you chew them out or threaten, you hurt the poor kids feelings.
