I also both use my instrumet as well as work without it at times. I do not
play on a student's instrument as I used to unless I use my own mouthpiece.
Some students are sensetive about having someone else play on their
mouthpiece and I no longer feel comfortable doing that. One thing that helps
me is using a Legere reed when I do section rehearsals and clinics. I can
just pick my instrument up and play without having to take the reed off, wet
it, then put it back on the mouthpiece if the reed has gotten dry.
