The following works for me- Practice just singing while you play first.
Then practice playing the same thing that you will sing and matching the
pitch simultaneously. Once that works and you're confident of the vocal
aspect then try it singing the vocal part and playing the clarinet part.
The hardest thing for me was getting the singing started. It helps me to
start both tones together.

Blowing accross the barrel and getting a tone is indeed possible. It is
indeed not easy either! I just keep trying until I was blue in the face.
The concept is the same as the Ney and other end blown flutes. Experiment
with different angles of air and different embouchures. It is really not
the same embouchure as for flute. Once you get a tone memorize how and
where the barrel is- in my case the closest point of the barrel snugs into
a particular spot just above my chin and my embouchure points down...
