Norman, OK is a typical midwestern college town. You won't go wrong with
any of the "name" motel chains or the "extended-stay" chains. In fact, many
have been updated very recently.

The above speaks to what I would call a MOTEL. Name a chain and Norman
probably has it. Again, there are a couple of extended-stay type properties
like Residence Inn by Marriott.

Hampton Inn
Holiday Inn
Days Inn
Super 8
La Quinta Inn
Fairfield Inn
Sheraton
Ramada
Guest Inn
Econo Lodge

Here are some Links that may provide more info:

When you visit a major city and stay at a HOTEL, that (to me) speaks to a
somewhat larger property with more amenities and services for the traveler,
etc. (though I wouldn't think anybody is coming for the accomodations,
rather to hear the best in clarinetists in the world)

Downtown OKC offers the Westin & the (brand new) Renaissance Hotels. Uptown
on northwest expressway close to a large regional mall are the Hilton, NW,
Marriott, OKC & the Marriot, Waterford. The first two are reasonable in
price for large properties. The Waterford is relatively expensive. The
Airport area has many Motels and a couple of properties that would qualify
as Hotels, like the Embassy Suites.

NO DOUBT, all of the OKC (downtown/north/airport area) Motels & Hotels are
out of the way.
****The ClarinetFest is in Norman***

Between Downtown/OKC and Norman lies South OKC and Moore which also have a
number of motels, some quite new. Especially those that were erected in the
area where the May 3 Tornado passed through, there are 2 or 3 new motels
right there. (Microtel, Motel 6, etc.) Moore is about approx. 7-9 miles from
Catlett Center = OU where I would assume most of the programs/festivities,
etc.

On the other hand, there are no motels **immediately** close to Catlett
Center (or University property in the vicinity of Boyd Street & University)
that I can think of. SO, most motels will be 2-3 miles away.

I live in Edmond, OK north of OKC. I used to live in Norman. I am no expert
and have offered the above info in an effort to answer some simple
questions. Certainly you should look to the website and info being provided
by ICA and the event organizers. They know best as the OU Clarinet Symposium
is a very well-run event.

Please feel free to email me if you have questions about my comments. Best
of luck.

PS This is Oklahoma and Public Transportation is not what it is in the
larger cities of the East. I would assume that many of the Norman properties
does have Shuttles available. Check to be sure. Rental cars are easy enough
to obtain at the Airport or in the immediate Airport area with convenient
dropoff. Those that are close enough to Norman that it becomes a coin-toss
on the time to drive or fly should probably drive. : >)
