I understand what David S. Naden and Karel Vahala are talking about, and I
agree with them, but aren't all resources just a compilation of another
person's research? I mean, encyclopedias and such don't just write
themselves. Wouldn't the core of research be done by asking others? Didn't
the first researcher ask questions of those who knew? I may be way off
base, but it just seems to me that she (and others in the past) is using
this list as her resource. Personally, I think that to be quite a show of
her knowledge of gathering materials, just as Mrs. Karen Vahala suggests.
Please tell me if I am wrong, which I more than likely am:)

I second Karel's views. Kathleen, in the past I have expressed exceedingly
strong
opinions to students about the need for them to do what I call "basic"
research. I
will refrain from doing that now, but you have to develop your research
skills.
