Good thought. Tried it with my Hite M43 (the only good mouthpiece I own.)
The straight edge was a steel mechanics ruler, so it should be quite
straight. There is definitely light coming through, with the ruler placed
either on the middle (where it contacts the baffle) or to one side so that
it rests on the side rails before the curve of the facing starts.

MP plays well, for me.
