So Francois, I play a Buffet RC I bought new in the mid 70's. What is
the
difference in that and the R13? I have never been completely clear on
it, I
just know I really like the horn. Are they still making the same model
RC?
I think I remember hearing there was something different about the bell

shape but I am sure that is not the only difference. I am glad you are
as
close as the computer and appreciate your knowledge and straightforward
answers to all the questions you have been asked.
James

Dear James,

The RC model is Polycilindrical in the upper joint, more conical in the
lower joint and has an egg shappe socket in the bell. This is the most
popular model in Europe, France,Italy,Portugal,Spain(Pitch at 442) and
players who play Boehm clarinet in Germany like the RC as well (Pitch at
444) we have a model at 440 for north america wich must be the one you
are using. The response of the RC si deferent than the R13 because of
the bore design the air travel differently into the instrument, sound
wise the RC I think will give you a sound more round around you with a
lot of low harmonics but I think less focus than the R13. the R13 is
totally polycilindrical wich to my opinion will give you a more focused
and centered sound(this is only my opinion). I hop this help you.

Ed, Yes the other model of Buffet are based on the concept of the R13
but they have their own dimentions this is why we call them RC, Elite,
DG, Vintage,Festival. The R13 again changed over the years to folow the
need of players who ask for changes. I hope that this time I am clearer
than the last time. Sorry for the confusion.

Musically Yours
