Is an R13 that is made made today significantly different from one made
in
the 50's or not? If it is significantly different it isn't an R13.
Maybe
the Buffet made in the 50's wasn't an R13. They can't be different and
be
the same model. Period.

Design evolution isn't a bad thing, but they should have honestly noted
their changes i.e. R13-x or R13-y. However, it appears to me that
Buffet
is cynically playing the nostalgia card to the hilt.

Dear Ed,

The R13 is a concept note a bore, the concept beeing the polycilindrical
design.Buffet called it the R13.Over the years we listened to different
musicians and work on this concept trying to answer the needs of the
players,as much as we could without getting away to much from the first
ones. we did changed method to make certain things more accurate bty
using modern technics without forgetting our tradition. When Rene Lesieux
who was the research and development manager at Buffet( he retiered last
December)came to the United States for the first time 6 years again,he
met a lot of Symphony players, educators etc and had a lot of request
from players that played on old R13 to come up with a model using the
1950' bore measurments.
It is what hapened, call it what you wante Ed,to me Rene listened the
players and gave them another option.

Musically Yours
