Jonathan Smith asked:
<Is anyone familiar with R.M. Malerne clarinets? There is an A model for sale
on E-Bay and the guy says he has two more. So, are they decent?>

I've restored two Malerne clarinets, one of which was their "Professional"
model, which I found to be one of the best-playing clarinets I've ever tried.
The "A" clarinet you're referring to is Malerne's "Standard" model, which is
more of a student/intermediate clarinet. Probably a decent instrument. Malerne,
I believe, worked in the Buffet factory for a while before starting his own
company, and as far as I know, his clarinets have a good reputation.
