David, Which Collis volume(s) do you use between Galper and Hite? BTW, I
agree that Galper and even the first Collis for an
older-with-previous-music-knowledge student are better than the band
methods and Rubank. (more engaging, more specialized to clarinet, better
progression) I use the Hovey First Book of Practical Studies for kids that
come to me after a year or two at school. (With other solo and theory and
technic material) Aimee Kratofil Greensburg, PA

I go right from Galper Book 2 into Hite Melodious Book 1. Additionally
(sometimes) I use the Collis Book 1-3 while using the Galper Method. I
require my students to use from 3-4 books at all times, as I want
diversity, and volume (makes for great sightreading skills), but not too
fast per level advancement. I also use Abe's Scale books.
His Tone , Technique, Staccato book is also ideal for the 3rd year and
beyond player - soon to be published by Mel Bay.
Plug, plug, plug, plug.......... ;) (no commercial reimbursement paid for
that public announcement).
