i agree with ann ...i don't like the rubank books either... not for a beginner

i think that the ed sueta series is pretty good... i taught myself when i was
8 how to play the flute with it therefore i think that it is more of a
self-teaching book but it empahsizes the rythms and such....

the standard of excellense books by bruce pearson are very good... on each
page... at the top it gives you a vocabulary word that applys to what the
pages is dealing with. for example: flat- a flat lowers the pitch of a note
one half step. it remains in effect for the entire messure. then there are a
few exersises on the page dealing with flats...
